The ART PRIZE CBM was born in 2011 to remember Carlo Bonatto Minella, a virtuous student of the Academy of Art of Turin who lived in the XIX Century near Turin and who, forgotten for many years, is revived today as a moment of reflection to understand and try to express confidence in the new generations.
It’s a biennial prize for painters, sculptors, video art, performers and photographers promoted and organised by Areacreativa42 and her president Karin Reisovà. In the first edition (2011) the winner was Alessandro Cardinale who, later on, won The Biennial of Beijing too.
Two years later (2013), 823 artists were admitted to the final stage of the award from Italy and abroad. The award was divided in two categories: artists younger than 30 years old and older than 30. The winners were 40 with 2 “mentioned artists” and the jury was composed by important professionals of the art world as the president Vittorio Sgarbi, the curator of Pavillion Italy at the Biennial of Venice 2011.
Then the III Edition 2015/2016 of the Prize had an international dimension and took place in Rivarolo, Turin, Prague and London. In particular, in London it took place in the heart of the City, at the Christine Park Gallery, while in Prague in the famous Dancing House by Frank Gehry at the Art Salon S Gallery, in the NoD Gallery and in the Italian Institute of Culture.
We chose a jury composed by a group of professionals of the world of art, such as curators, critics, dealers and collectors who want to give an important contribution to the Prize and take part to the project with the aim of valorizing and discovering new talents. 1174 artists from 46 Countries applied for the Prize.
The mission of the Art Prize CBM is to accompany the artists during and after the path of the Prize, providing visibility and concrete exhibition possibilities also abroad, and to document their work with a quality catalogue published by Silvana Editoriale in two languages.
This new edition 2017/2018 will be in Turin, Milan, London, Prague and Madrid and will offer exhibitions possibilities, artists residencies, a catalogue in two languages and special prizes.
The cerimony award will be during the week of Artissima Art Fair in the Sala delle Colonne of the Council House of Turin.
